1993
THE SEARCH
With the plan to built the first legal distillery on Arran in over 150 the search for a perfect site began. Lochranza was eventually settled upon as the water there was of such high quality.
1994
THE BEGINING
The construction commenced in December and lasted until summer of next year, with a short break to allow a pair of Golden Eagles nest in peace amongst the hills above the distillery.
1995
FIRST DISTILLING
The hard work paid off and the first spirit ran through the spirit safe on the 29th of June.
1998
FIRST TASTE
After 3 years of maturation, the first cask of Arran Single Malt Scotch Whisky was opened on 25th July by Scottish film star Ewan McGregor. This was the first legal dram on Arran for over 160 years. In this year, we released our first ever 3 year-old Arran Single Malt. Ewan's cask is still with us, resting quietly alongside the Princes' casks.
GOLDEN EAGLES
Those majestic birds are very important to everyone at the distillery. They nest in the hills above the distillery and grace special events by flying by.
