Arran Distillery

Arran Sauternes Cask Finish

ABV: 50% 70 cL

This exceptional single malt is part of Arran’s Wine Cask Finished Small Batch series. Initially matured for 8 years in oak casks, it is then carefully re-racked into a selection of Sauternes wine barrels from Bordeaux. This finishing process imparts a delicate zesty fruitiness and luscious sweet honey notes, adding a vibrant and elegant character to the whisky.

Richly honeyed and backed with a lifting zestiness which slides into spice and zingy salt. Once the dram opens out, vanilla and sultana stand out followed by notes of toasted oak.

The history of distillation on the Isle of Arran is long and rich. Once home distilling became illegal, the islanders went underground and kept supplying the rising demand for the water of life. The Arran distillery in Lochranza, opened in 1995 and is the first legal one since its predecessor, located in Lagg, closed its doors in 1837. Unlike many distilleries on the West Coast and the islands, Arran's whisky does not use peat. Their malt is soft and smooth, with citrus and cereal notes.
