Alistair Walker
ABV: 53.7% 70 cL
Distilled in 2007, this malt comes from an undisclosed distillery on the beautiful Isle of Islay, the region known for its peated malts. It was aged for 18 years, including a 5-year and 3-month finishing period in a single Oloroso puncheon.
Bottled at natural cask strength, without chill-filtration or artificial colouring, by Alistair Walker for his Infrequent Flyers collection.
Baked peach and cranberries, with lovely sweet, smoky undernotes. A hint of blood orange, and a little cracked black pepper. Nicely poised.
Islay peat and sweet Oloroso, what an eternally alluring combination. Bog myrtle over smoulderinf embers, with contrasting dark chocolate, stewed sultanas and Amarena cherries, plus a bonus cinnamon cameo. It all comes together rather nicely. Nuff said.
Tax included.
