Tomatin Distillery, established in 1897 in the Monadhliath Mountains south of Inverness, is known for its gentle, fruity Highland style and its long history as one of Scotland’s largest malt producers. Using soft local water, long fermentations, and tall stills, Tomatin creates a smooth, approachable spirit with notes of apple, pear, honey, and light malt. Over the last decade, the distillery has shifted toward crafting more characterful single malts, often matured in a mix of bourbon, sherry, and wine casks that add depth while keeping the whisky’s easygoing Highland nature intact. Set in a remote, peaceful landscape, Tomatin blends scale with a quietly thoughtful approach to flavour.
