Teaninich Distillery, founded in 1817 near Alness in the Northern Highlands, is known for producing a bright, grassy, and slightly oily spirit that’s prized by blenders. Instead of a traditional mash tun, it uses a mash filter, which helps create its clean, crisp profile. Long fermentations and classic pot stills shape a whisky full of green apple, citrus, fresh herbs, and gentle malt sweetness, usually matured in refill bourbon casks to keep those flavours clear and vivid. Although most of its output goes into blends, the occasional single malt bottlings reveal a distinctive, lively Highland character.
