Royal Brackla Distillery, founded in 1812 on the Cawdor Estate in the Highlands, is renowned as one of Scotland’s oldest licensed distilleries and the first to receive a Royal Warrant, earning it the title “The King’s Own Whisky.” It produces a refined, orchard-fruity single malt shaped by long fermentation, tall stills, and a maturation style that leans heavily on first-fill sherry casks, giving the whisky rich notes of honeyed apple, dried fruit, and warm spice. Set amid the quiet farmland between Nairn and Inverness, the distillery combines historic gravitas with a focus on elegant, sherry-led flavour, making Royal Brackla a distinctive outlier in the Highland region.
