Port Dundas, founded in the early 1800s on the Forth & Clyde Canal in Glasgow, was once one of Scotland’s largest and most important grain distilleries. It became a major engine of blended Scotch production, using column stills to create a light, clean, versatile grain spirit. Over nearly two centuries it expanded, merged with neighbouring distilleries, and supplied whisky to many of Scotland’s biggest brands. Port Dundas closed in 2010, but its remaining aged stocks are still released occasionally, often showing a gentle, sweet style with notes of vanilla, grain, soft fruit, and delicate spice — a quiet reminder of one of Glasgow’s historic whisky giants.
