Whisky type Single Grain

North British single grain whisky offers a lighter, smoother alternative to single malts, showcasing the elegant side of grain distillation. Made primarily from maize (corn) and distilled in continuous column stills, it produces a clean, sweet spirit that develops rich complexity with age. Matured in ex-bourbon or refill casks, North British single grain whiskies often display notes of vanilla, toffee, honey, coconut, and gentle spice, with a silky texture and subtle oak influence. While most of its output goes into blended Scotch, independent bottlers occasionally release aged single grain expressions — some over 30 or 40 years old — prized for their smoothness, delicate sweetness, and exceptional value compared to similarly aged single malts.
