Mortlach whisky is renowned for its rich, powerful, and meaty flavour — a bold and complex style that sets it apart from other Speyside malts. Thanks to its unique 2.81-times distillation process, the spirit develops a dense, oily texture with deep layers of character. The aroma typically reveals roasted malt, dark chocolate, dried fruit, and subtle spice, while the palate delivers an umami-rich profile with notes of toffee, sherried sweetness, and hints of beef stock. The finish is long, warm, and slightly smoky, leaving traces of oak and dried fruit. This intense and savoury profile has earned Mortlach its famous nickname, “The Beast of Dufftown.”
