Gleann Mòr Spirits

Macallan 36 Years Old Rare Find

ABV: 54.1% 70 cL

This single malt was distilled in 1990 at the Macallan Distillery near Craigellachie, in the heart of the Speyside region of Scotland. Macallan is renowned for a rich, full-bodied and characterful spirit that is especially well suited to long maturation in sherry wood.

It has been bottled by Gleann Mòr Spirits as part of The Long Game, a trio of exceptionally old single casks from their Rare Find range, spanning 34 to 38 years of maturation. This Macallan spent its full 36 years in a single refill sherry butt.

A sherry butt is a large cask of around 500 litres, traditionally seasoned with sherry from Jerez in southern Spain. As a refill cask it has already given up some of its most intense sherry character to an earlier fill, so its influence is gentler and more measured, which suits a very long maturation like this one.

Over more than three and a half decades, that measured influence has allowed the character of the spirit to take centre stage, while the slow interaction with the wood has built remarkable depth, richness and refinement. Gleann Mòr describe it as an exceptionally rare glimpse of mature Macallan.

Aged 36 years, distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2026 from cask #11317. Bottled at natural colour and no chill filtration. Only 18 bottles were produced.
