The red wine cask release is an annual release inspired by the finishing of the mature spirit in red wine casks. Each read will bring a different a expression of red wine, inspired by the casks that compliment Lochlea's style. For the first release, this whisky was matured in first fill Bourbon barrels, then finished in carefully selected Grenache casks.

The result is a bright, fruit-forward whisky bursting with summer berries, strawberry shortcake, and sweet vanilla, finishing with spiced biscuits and rich oak. This first edition sets the tone for a vibrant and evolving series of red wine cask finishes. 

Bottled without chill-filtration or artificial colouring. 

Nose

Bright fresh pink berries,. sweet and floral, some oak and tannins

Palate

Fresh juicy red fruits, particularly berries and cherries, sweet vanilla and almond flavours like a strawberry shortcake.

Finish

Finishing with rich oak, cereal, tannins and spiced biscuits.
