Lindores Abbey Distillery

Lindores Abbey Friar John Corr 2026

ABV: 52.5% 70 cL

Lindores Friar John Cor is a distinctive single malt created in tribute to the monk whose name is forever linked with the earliest written record of Scotch whisky. Inspired by Friar John Cor’s historic 1494 commission from King James IV to produce Aqua Vitae, this annual release celebrates the enduring whisky heritage of Lindores Abbey.

Matured exclusively in Ruby Port casks and bottled at 52.5% ABV, the whisky presents a deep mahogany hue and an indulgently rich character. Aromas of ripe berries, figs, dates and dark chocolate unfold alongside roasted nuts and a gentle touch of cinnamon. The palate is full and silky, bringing together strawberry preserves, caramelised dates and dark syrup with warming spice, vanilla, marzipan and toasted almonds. Dark chocolate develops throughout, leading to a long, sweet finish layered with lingering spice and cocoa.
