Lagg Distillery

Lagg Single Malt Quarter Cask Small Batch Release

ABV: 56% 70 cL

Selected for their exceptional ability to accelerate oak maturation the 125 litre Quarter Casks used for this release were re-made from ex-bourbon barrels. Lagg Distillery Manager Graham Ormand chose these casks to demonstrate how increased oak contact enhances the richness, sweetness and complexity of Lagg's heavily plated spirit.

Matured for six years exclusively in Quarter Casks, this whisky reveals concentrated layers of vanilla, butterscotch and charred oak balanced by fragrant peat smoke and vibrant citrus notes.

Nose

An inviting wave of sweet peat followed by creamy vanilla butterscotch and toasted oak. Bright citrus peel and orchard fruits emerge beneath the smoke, alongside sea spray, charred driftwood and a gentle herbal freshness.

Palate

Rich and full-bodied with an oily texture. Vanilla fudge is quickly enveloped by earthy peat smoke, cracked black pepper and warming oak spice. Notes of grilled lemon, toasted coconut and honeyed malt develop into hints of dark chocolate.

Finish

Long, warming and smoky. Lingering embers, charred oak and maritime salinity gradually soften into a vanilla sweetness and a lasting citrus freshness.

Whisky type Single malt

Lagg is the sister to the Arran Distillery, built on the opposite side of the island. The construction began in 2017, with the first spirit running through the stills in 2019. Unlike its sister, Lagg uses peat heavily in their distillation to create robust and maritime malt.
