Kilkerran Distillery

Kilkerran 12 Years Old

ABV: 46% 70 cL

Kilkerran, 12 years old, comes from the Glengyle distillery in Campbeltown on the Kintyre Peninsula.

This lightly peated malt was aged in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks to create the perfect balance between delicate smoke, notes of citrus, and creamy sweetness.

Nose

Sweet confectionery with turkish delight, pear drops and marzipan apparent on the nose. There are hints of subtle peat smoke, like toasted marshmallows by a campfire.

Palate

Citrus notes of lemon cheesecake and an oiliness typical of a Campbeltown whisky. Peat smoke, leather bound books and peppery, spicy notes develop over time, along with sweet sticky toffee pudding.

Finish

Campfire embers, with sweet hints of pecan pie and butterscotch.

Kilkerran is the single malt whisky produced at Glengyle Distillery, which was originally founded in 1872 and revived in 2004 after nearly 80 years of silence. Located in Campbeltown — once known as the whisky capital of the world — Glengyle is one of only three active distilleries in the region today. Kilkerran whiskies are lightly peated, non-chill filtered, and typically matured in a mix of bourbon and sherry casks, offering a balance of maritime character, gentle smoke, and fruity sweetness. The name "Kilkerran" comes from the Gaelic Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain, referring to the original settlement where Campbeltown now stands.
