Signatory Vintage

Islay 35 Years Old 1990 #4341 Symington's Choice

ABV: 50.5% 70 cL

Distilled in 1990 at an undisclosed distillery on Islay, this single cask comes from the island famous for its bold, coastal single malts. Signatory Vintage keep the distillery's name off the label, so the whisky is left to speak for itself, which is half the fun of an undisclosed Islay malt.

Selected for Signatory Vintage's Symington's Choice range, a series of individually chosen casks bearing the name of Signatory's Andrew Symington, this whisky spent 35 years maturing in a single bourbon barrel before being bottled as cask #4341.

Bourbon barrels are made from new American white oak and used once for bourbon before coming to Scotland. They are smaller than sherry butts, giving more contact between spirit and wood, and tend to let the distillery character shine through rather than masking it.

After three and a half decades in a bourbon barrel, the cask has had time to soften and round the spirit, giving a rare, very old Islay malt where distillery and oak sit in balance. It is a sister cask to #4346, filled on the same day.

Aged 35 years, distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2026 from cask #4341. Presented at natural cask strength and at natural colour.
