Alistair Walker

Invergordon 37 Years Old 1988 Infrequent Flyers Batch 18

ABV: 44.5% 70 cL

This single grain whisky was distilled on the 1st of February 1988 at the Invergordon Distillery - the only grain distillery in the Highlands. It was aged for 37 years in a Rye barrel, resulting in a buttery malt with sweet spice.

It was bottled by Alistair Walker for their Infrequent Flyer collection at natural cask strength, without chill-filtration or artificial colouring.

Nose

Excellent bouquet of toasted coconut and roasted almonds.

Palate

Soft and very engaging, this is a well-matured dram. Custard creams and buttery shortbread are prevalent, and the anticipated sweet spice from the rye cask is gentle and very well-integrated.

Invergordon Distillery, located in the Scottish Highlands, was established in 1960 and is primarily known for producing grain whisky. Unlike malt whisky distilleries, Invergordon uses continuous column stills to create smooth, light grain whisky that often serves as a key component in blended Scotch whiskies. Owned by Whyte & Mackay, the distillery focuses on high-volume production and has played an important role in Scotland’s whisky industry for decades.
