Inchgower 2009 Cask #803610

ABV: 55.5.% 70 cL

Inchgower distillery was established in 1871 near Buckie, a fishing village on the Speyside  coast. While coastal notes aren't usually the hallmark of Speyside whiskies, Inchgower proudly swims against the tide, showcasing an unmistakable touch of salinity. Its steeply angled lyne arms add weight to the spirit, crafting a distinctive character that, when paired with the right cask, can become something quite captivating.

This single cask whisky has been aged for 16 years in a Hogshead before finishing in a Pineau des Charentes cask, producing an elegant and refreshing whisky with Pineau's signature charm. Bottled at natural cask strength of 55.5% ABV without artificial colouring or chill filtration. Only 218 Bottles have been produced.

Nose

Opens with bramble fruits - raspberries and strawberries - joined by a fresh, herbal note with a cool menthol edge. The Pineau cask influence brings a graceful sweetness and vinous lift, introducing hints of honeyed grapes, white florals, and orchard fruit. There's a touch of orange zest and rose water here, too, along with a faint, coastal salinity.

Palate

Rich and sweet, with berry compôte, soft caramel, and a gentle herbal bitterness that keeps the sweetness in check.

Finish

Bright and slightly drying, with lingering orange peel, subtle salt, and a wisp of rose.
