The Whisky Cellar

Inchgower 16 Years Old 2008 Pintail

ABV: 51.5% 70 cL

This single malt was distilled in 2008 at the Inchgower Distillery, located on the outskirts of Buckie. It was firstly matured for many years in a single ex-bourbon barrel and then re-racked in a barrel, which previously held the French fortified wine Banyuls, made from old vines grown on the slopes of the Pyrenees mountains. The resulting whisky carries notes of Bosc pear skins, rose water, black cherries, toffee, pink peppercorns and almond oil.

Nose

Sun-ripened strawberries, red grapes, creamy malt. Palate: Bosc pear skins, stewed red berries, rose water, black cherries, fresh cut flowers, cake spice.

Palate

Herbal and minty with sweet strawberries and bitter dark chocolate.

£90.00

Tax included.

Inchgower Distillery, founded in 1871 in Buckie, Speyside, produces smooth and rich single malt whisky known for its delicate fruit and honey notes with a subtle hint of spice. Primarily supplying whisky for blends like Bell’s, Inchgower also releases limited single malt bottlings. With a long history rooted in the Distillers Company Limited, it now operates under Diageo but remains a relatively low-profile gem. Using traditional copper pot stills and pure local spring water, Inchgower crafts a balanced and approachable spirit.
