Glengoyne

Glengoyne 2013 Vintage Pedro Ximénez Cask Edition

ABV: 47.2% 70 cL

Distilled in 2013 at Glengoyne, which sits beneath Dumgoyne hill near Killearn, just north of Glasgow, on the very edge of the Highland region. Glengoyne is known for its unpeated, air-dried barley and an unhurried distillation, giving a soft, fruity and rounded house style.

This limited Vintage release has been matured in a combination of Glengoyne's classic casks, then enhanced with Pedro Ximénez sherry casks to add extra layers of richness and depth to the distillery's gentle spirit.

Pedro Ximénez is the sweetest of all sherries. Made in Andalusia from grapes left to dry in the sun until almost raisined, it produces a dark, syrupy wine, and the casks that once held it pass on a generous sweetness and weight to whisky aged in them.

Brought together, the PX casks build on Glengoyne's fruity character, giving a beautifully rounded whisky that Glengoyne describes as layered with festive fruits, warming spice and indulgent treacle toffee - a luxurious dram that showcases the depth that comes from exceptional cask maturation.

Distilled in 2013 and bottled at 47.2% ABV, natural in colour, in a limited batch of only 9,000 bottles.

Glengoyne Distillery, founded in 1833 near Glasgow, is known for its very slow distillation process that creates smooth, fruity Highland single malts. Unique for sitting on the Highland-Lowland border, its stills are in the Highlands while the whisky matures in the Lowlands. Glengoyne uses unpeated barley dried with warm air and runs an eco-friendly wetland to support local wildlife.
