Glenallachie Distillery

Glenallachie 35 Years Old 1990

ABV: 50.2% 70 cL

Crafted with meticulous precision, Master Distiller Billy Walker carefully selected four exceptional cask types from an enviable inventory to be bottled as The GlenAllachie 1990, 35-year-old Cask Strength: Mizunara virgin oak, American virgin oak, Oloroso Sherry, and Pedro Ximénez Sherry.
This single malt showcases the rare use of Mizunara virgin oak, a prized Japanese wood sourced from 200-year-old trees. By harmonising Mizunara with three iconic and time-honoured cask types, this masterful malt creates a symphony of flavours, balancing warm spice, luscious dried fruit, creamy vanilla, and rich molasses into a refined and full-bodied expression.

Nose

Mocha, crystalised cinnamon and treacle tart, followed by cocoa, toasted hazelnuts and pineapple, with soft notes of ginger and heather honey.

Palate

Cocoa, baking spices and chocolate-coated raisins, followed by coconut, candied orchard fruits and sandalwood, with vanilla, dried red fruits and honeycomb.

Glenallachie Distillery was founded in 1967 by Mackinlay McPherson. It was the fourth distillery designed by William Delmé-Evans, the architect behind Macduff, Tullibardine and Jura. For many years, malt produced at Glenallachie was mainly used for blends, including as a part of Chivas Regal, with rare single malt releases. In 2017, it was purchased from the Chivas Bros. by Billie Walker, Trisha Savage and Graham Stevenson. Shortly after, in 2019, Glenallachie won the Distillery of the Year, and many more awards followed, both for the Distillery and its bottlings.
Glenallachie is known for its rich, fruity, sherry cask-aged single malts and incredible blends.
