Murray McDavid

Glen Moray 9 Years Old 2017 Ximénez-Spínola PX Sherry Finish Cask Partnership

ABV: 55.7% 70 cL

This single malt was distilled in 2017 at Glen Moray, on the banks of the River Lossie in Elgin. The distillery produces a light, fruity and approachable Speyside spirit.

After 9 years of maturation, including a final four in Pedro Ximénez barriques from Bodegas Ximénez-Spínola in Jerez, it was bottled for Murray McDavid's Cask Partnership Series Batch 1. The casks had held fortified wine made from gently pressed, sun-dried grapes.

Such a long PX finish turns the gentle fruit into something far deeper, sweeter and darker, a dram flowing with luscious flavours.

Bottled without chill-filtration or artificial colouring.

The history of Glen Moray begins in 1897, when the Elgin West Brewery—formerly supplying the local community with ales—was converted into a whisky distillery. From the outset, Glen Moray took a distinctive approach by maturing its spirit in a wide variety of casks, an uncommon practice at the time. Like many distilleries, it fell victim to the whisky slump of the early 20th century and was forced to close between the 1910s and 1920s.
Today, Glen Moray is celebrated for its soft, approachable character, experimental cask finishes, and an affordable core range.
