Murray McDavid

Dumbarton 60 Years Old ULTRA

ABV: 42.3% 70 cL

ULTRA represents the pinnacle of Murray McDavid’s accomplishments and is its finest and most treasured collection of whisky. Bringing exceptional vintage Scotch whiskies created over decades, these ULTRA-aged whiskies have been matured in oak casks lying quietly in dark, atmospheric Victorian warehouses in Scotland - they are a true product of TIME. Whilst the busy world outside has rushed by, the precious spirit inside these casks has slowly and silently developed remarkable depth and beautiful flavours, that go far
and beyond.

Introducing a single grain Scotch whisky from Dumbarton Distillery. This Lowland grain was distilled on the Christmas Day of 1964, and it was aged for 60 years before bottling, bringing an incredible concentration of gorgeous aromas flow with wild floral honey, baked lemon and spring orchard, leading to the richness of salted butter and mellow cloves. Gentle, soothing nutmeg coats your tounge, as rustic marmalade and hints of creamy chocolate linger on palate. Elegant, apple pastry and pear conclude this truly historic dram, distilled in a bygone era.

Bottled by Murray McDavid at natural cask strength, natural colour and no chill filtration. A true masterpiece of time. Limited to 200 bottles.

Dumbarton Distillery is one of the lost distilleries of Scotland. At the time the production began, in 1938, it was the biggest grain distillery in Europe. Most of the liquid produced at Dumbarton was used in Ballantines blend and was never bottled as a single grain, except for independent bottlers. The Distillery was shut in 2002 and most of the buildings were demolished, the remnants became an attraction due to their guard geese, introduced in 1959 and retired in 2012.
