Murray McDavid
ABV: 54.6% 70 cL
Distilled in 2017 in the Speyside village of Craigellachie, where the Fiddich joins the Spey. The distillery is famous for a bold and distinctly meaty spirit that stands apart from the lighter local style.
Matured for 9 years in total, this Murray McDavid Cask Partnership Series Batch 1 release spent its last three in traditional barriques from the Madeira producer Justino's, previously used for fortified wines from several grape varieties.
The Madeira wood brings out a sweeter side of the spirit, giving a delicious marriage of savoury and sweet flavours.
Bottled without chill-filtration or artificial colouring.
Tax included.

The Craigellachie distillery was built in 1891 with the sole purpose of distilling a light, fruity spirit for blending. Like many others, the distillery has changed ownership a few times throughout its life, but production has been steady since its opening, with only a few short closures. However, the style of whisky produced has changed. Nowadays, Craigellachie is known for its bold flavour with oaky and spicy notes. The distillery released the first official single malt in 2014, but the majority of the liquid is still used for blending.
