Alistair Walker

Caperdonich 26 Years Old 2000 Infrequent Flyers

ABV: 50.2% 70 cL

Released as the 200th bottling from Alistair Walker, this single malt was distilled in 2000 at Caperdonich, the lost 'ghost' distillery of Rothes. Built as the sister distillery to Glen Grant and closed in 2002, Caperdonich has become a firm favourite among collectors, and every remaining cask grows scarcer. Matured for 26 years in a refill hogshead, this is a classic, unadorned showcase of the distillery's character.

Bottled at natural cask strength, without chill-filtration or artificial colouring, by Alistair Walker for his Infrequent Flyers Collection.

Nose

A classically Speyside nose, with engaging aromas of pineapple, banana custard and vanilla ice cream.

Palate

An uncompromised expression of Caperdonich, ghost distillery, distilled in its antepenultimate year of production. A creamy dram, displaying big cereal flavours - digestive biscuits, butterfly popcorn and crisp cornflakes - which marry with the sweeter notes of honeycomb and butterscotch, and a touch of allspice.

Caperdonich Distillery was founded in 1898 as the first expansion distillery. It was built across the street from its big sister and known as Glen Grant 2. The distillery was renamed Caperdonich in 1965, upon reopening after a long period of mothballing.
It continued to produce a rich, complex spirit until its final closure in 2002. The distillery was demolished in 2011, but despite its closure, it has retained a dedicated following, and its unique, highly esteemed releases are now considered rare and collectable.
