The Cameronbridge Distillery was founded in 1824 by John Haig. In 1829, it became one of the first distilleries to install a Patent Still invented by Robert Stein, John Haig's cousin. Soon after, two Coffey stills were added to keep up with the latest technology. The huge demand for the liquid had the distillery producing non-stop, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. In the late 90s, the production was expanded beyond whisky and Cameronbridge started distilling gin and vodka as well. 2007 marked the latest expansion to this powerhouse. Today, Cameronbridge is owned solely by Diageo and is the backbone of many blends.
