The distillery is brewing-led and flavour-driven from the very first step. Where most distilleries brew a plain, high-yield wash for efficiency, Burnobennie brews a beer wash built on speciality malts more often associated with craft brewing. Distilling a wash with that character carries more flavour through into the finished spirit. The distillery ferments for at least seven days, distils slowly, and reduces the spirit to filling strength with water from the Pannanich Wells.

The inaugural release matured chiefly in first-fill bourbon casks and is strictly limited to 2,020 individually numbered bottles. Bottled at natural colour and no chill filtration.

Nose

Roasted almonds and malty, biscuit-like notes, with vanilla pod and a touch of honey. A little ripe orchard fruit sits in the background.

Palate

Rich and mouth-coating. Dark chocolate and freshly roasted coffee lead, with toffee, cereal sweetness and a warming streak of oak spice. A drop of water softens it towards mocha and vanilla.

Finish

Long, with a pleasant roasted bitterness. Espresso and dark chocolate linger.
