This Bunnahabhain 10 Year Old is part of Gordon & MacPhail’s Discovery Series, a curated collection showcasing classic flavour profiles from some of Scotland’s most respected distilleries. Each expression in the series is crafted to highlight a bold, unmistakable style—smoky, sherried, or bourbon-matured.


This particular bottling represents the smoky side of single malt whisky. Matured for 10 years in bourbon casks, it offers a beautifully layered profile, where bonfire smoke intertwines with xesty citrus, and subtle hints of liquorice. 

Nose

Vanilla, Toffee and light fruit cake with gentle peat smoke.

Palate

Zesty lemon, sweet candied lime and liquorice, followed by a smouldering bonfire.

Finish

Long and smoky.

William Robertson built Bunnahabhain in 1881. He chose the very remote North East coast of Islay for the site, which meant not only did he have to build the road and housing for the workers but also that the only way to get the supplies in and whisky out was by ship. Even though the new road was built in 1960, making it easier to reach the distillery, boats supplied the distillery up to 1993. Bunnahabhain Distillery is known for its low-peated, but they still create a heavily peated style called Staoisha.
