Bruichladdich Distillery
ABV: 50% 70 cL
This Bruichladdich single malt was distilled using unpeated organic barley from Mid Coul farm, located close to Inverness in the north of Scotland, which has been supplying organically grown barley for the Bruichladdich Distillery since 2003.
With no artificial input, the barley grown for The Organic 2012 is the purest expression of its terroir. Benefiting from a slow distillation and matured exclusively on Islay, this vintage showcases the clarity of flavour from the barley with notes of creamy fudge, honeyed citrus and subtle spice – with a beautifully rounded mouthfeel.
Cereal notes, with dried hay, barley straw and malty biscuit. Crème brûlée, coconut, butterscotch, and vanilla from the oak follow with earthy enhanced by floral notes and sweet dried apricot and pear.
Creamy texture, with a peppery hint of spice followed by floral heather honey, followed by notes of warm scones and barley strawm, with fresh vanilla, marzipan and coconut.
The malty character of the spirit is unmistakable on the finish, while almond and butterscotch notes from the oak linger.
Tax included.

The Bruichladdich name comes from the Scottish Gaelic 'Bruthach a' Chladaich', which means brae by the shore. The distillery was founded in 1881 by the Harvey Brothers. The distillery changed hands many times until 1994 when it was shut down as 'surplus to requirements’. It remained mothballed until December 2000, when it was purchased by private investors. It took nearly six months to resume the distillation, as Bruichladdich had never seen any modernisation efforts from the previous owners. In 2012, it was taken over by Remy Cointreau. Today, Bruichladdich produces three different styles of whisky: their classic unpeated under the name Bruichladdich, heavily seated port Charlotte and the world’s most peaty malt - Octomore.
