Alistair Walker

Braeval 14 Years Old Infrequent Flyers

ABV: 58.9% 70 cL

This whisky was distilled in 2010 at the Braeval Distillery, known for light and floral Speyside malt. It was aged for 14 years, including a finishing period in a single oloroso sherry puncheon.

Bottled at natural cask strength, without chill-filtration or artificial colouring by Alistair Walker for his Infrequent Flyers collection.

Nose

Sugared Macadamia nuts, stewed sultanas and a hint of cocoa, over a base layer of toasted coconut.

Palate

Sweet, slightly dry, and nutty. Dark chocolate-coated walnuts combine with Demerara sugar, dates and caramel, and there is a tingly note, with an undercurrent of allspice and cloves. An autumnal dram.

Braeval Distillery, also called the Braes of Glenlivet, located in the heart of the Speyside region, was built in 1973 by Chivas Brothers with the goal of supplying their blended whiskies. It was equipped with three stills, with another two added shortly after opening, bringing the capacity to 4.5 m litres per year. The distillery was closed for 6 years between 2002 and 2008 but has been producing ever since.
Single malt from the Braeval is mostly available through independent bottlers.
