Blair Athol 2013 Cask #303637

ABV: 57.8% 70 cL

Blair Athol, sitting just south of Pitlochry is known for the rich, nutty, and malty character of its whisky. Equally admired for its leafy veil of ivy draping the distillery's historic walls, changing dramatically in colour as the seasons unfold.

Aged for 12 years in a Hogshead cask, Blair Athol's malty heft melds beautifully with the Margaux cask it was finished in, producing a dram that's both luscious and complex. Bottled at natural cask strength of 57.8% ABV, without artificial colouring or chill filtration. Only 290 Bottles have been produced.

Nose

The nose opens with blackcurrant wine gums and a soft, creamy sweetness reminiscent of milk bottle sweets. White chocolate and a whisper of orange zest add a gentle brightness, while an undercurrent of roasted malted cassis provide depth.

Palate

Sweet and unctuous delivering velvety waves of dark fruit coulis, balanced by gently herbal notes.

Finish

Long and satisfying, with echoes of rich malt, subtle green notes, and a final flourish of red berries.
