Blair Athol 2009 Cask #307592

ABV: 53% 70 cL

Blair Athol, sitting just south of Pitlochry, nestled in Perthshire's picturesque Vale of Athol, is often described as the "gateway to the Highlands." Known for its rich, nutty, and malty character, Blair Athol is equally admired for the leafy veil of ivy draping the distillery's historic walls, changing dramatically in colour as the seasons unfold.

This single cask bottling encapsulates these qualities with notes of dried fruit, toasted nuts, and a touch of earthiness and sweet spice. Aged for 15 years in a Hogshead and finished in a Pedro Ximenéz cask, its has been bottled at natural cask strength of 53% ABV, without artificial colouring or chill filtering, with only 253 bottles being produced.

Nose

Opens with powerful Pedro Ximenéz intensity, immediately enveloping the senses with dark fruits, raisins, and toasted nuts. Figs and dates meld with a vibrant note of raspberry, underpinned by a delicate hint of liquorice and gentle herbal tones.

Palate

A pleasing tannic character compliments the rich wave of dark fruits and worn leather, offering a chewy, sticky-sweet syrup quality.

Finish

The experience deepens with chocolate-covered raisins and a warm, satisfying finish that lingers with a touch of earthiness and sweet spice.
