This single malt was distilled in 2011 at the Benrinnes Distillery in Aberlour in the Speyside region of Scotland. It was matured in a single refill oloroso sherry hogshead for 14 years and bottled at natural cask strength, without artificial colouring or chill filtering by Adelphi Selection.

Benrinnes is situated by the foot of the Ben Rinnes mountain, from which it takes its name. The first destination at the original site occurred in 1826, but only three years later, the distillery was destroyed by flood. It was rebuilt in the new location in 1835. Since then, the distillery has endured changes in ownership, bankruptcies, and even a fire. Today, Benrinnes is part of Diageo's portfolio, with two stills and a capacity of 2.5 million litres per year.
