This single malt was distilled in 2012 at the Benrinnes Distillery and aged in a Passito Di Caluso cask for 12 years. Passito Di Caluso is a sweet Italian dessert wine from the Piedmont region, produced in the same way since 500 BCE.
The liquid from the Benrinnes Distillery was a perfect candidate for maturing in such an active cask, as it does not get overwhelmed easily.
