Signatory Vintage
ABV: 47.9% 70 cL
Distilled in 1996 at Auchroisk, which sits between Keith and Rothes in Speyside, this single cask comes from a distillery whose spirit is fruity, malty and gently sweet, an easy-going character that develops real complexity with age.
Chosen for Signatory Vintage's Symington's Choice range, a series of individually selected casks bearing the name of Signatory's Andrew Symington, this whisky matured in a 1st fill Oloroso sherry butt and was bottled as cask #4 after 30 years.
Oloroso is a rich, oxidatively aged sherry from Jerez in southern Spain. A first fill butt has held sherry immediately before the whisky went in, so it has the most to give, and the butt is a large cask, which allows a slower, steadier exchange between spirit and wood over a long maturation.
Three decades in first fill Oloroso has given this Auchroisk considerable depth and colour, with the sherry cask layered over the distillery's fruity, malty core.
Aged 30 years, distilled in 1996 and bottled in 2026 from cask #4. Presented at natural cask strength and at natural colour.
Tax included.

The Auchroisk distillery was founded in 1972 and released its first single malt in 1978. Rapid mashing, quick fermentation, and a rapid boiling regime create a fruity yet spicy malt with notes of nuts. Diageo currently owns Auchroisk, with most of the liquid produced at the distillery being used for J&B Blended Scotch Whisky. It is also bottled as a single malt for the Fauna & Flora collection and by numerous independent bottlers.
