Aberlour Distillery, founded in 1879 by James Fleming in the Speyside village of Aberlour, is celebrated for its rich, sherry-led Highland style rooted in Fleming’s motto “Let the deed show.” Rebuilt after a major fire in 1898, the distillery grew steadily thanks to its reliable access to pure Ben Rinnes spring water and early adoption of sherry maturation. Long fermentations and copper pot stills create a full-bodied, fruity spirit that develops deep flavours of dried fruit, chocolate, spice, and orchard sweetness, especially in the iconic Aberlour A’bunadh releases. Set beside the River Spey, the distillery combines Victorian heritage, hands-on craft, and a flavour profile that has become one of Speyside’s most recognisable signatures.
