Little Brown Dog Spirits

Aberdeenshire Single Malt 12 Years Old Cask Strength Limited Edition

ABV: 55.4% 70 cL

Little Brown Dog's Aberdeenshire Single Malt is distilled at Glen Garioch in Oldmeldrum, in the Aberdeenshire Highlands, a robust, malty and fruity spirit with plenty of weight.

After the brilliant reception for their first core whisky, Little Brown Dog wanted to show off the spirit at cask strength. This limited edition of just 500 bottles is a vatting of first fill bourbon barrels and refill PX and Oloroso sherry puncheons, released under their black notebook label.

First fill bourbon barrels bring vanilla and sweet American oak. Oloroso is a rich, nutty sherry from Jerez, aged oxidatively without flor, and Pedro Ximénez (PX) is the sweetest style of sherry, made from sun-dried grapes. The sherry puncheons gave a little more this time around, so this batch is slightly more sherried in character than the core release.

The strength gives away the fact that most of the casks used to make this 12 year old are a good bit older than 12 years. Unlike last year's pre-production preview, Little Brown Dog have no immediate plans to follow it with a core cask strength expression.

Aged 12 years and bottled on 12 October 2026, it is presented at natural cask strength, natural colour and no chill filtration. Each bottle is individually hand numbered, and it is limited to 500 bottles.

Glen Garioch Distillery was officially founded in 1797, although there are claims it may have been active even earlier. Like many other distilleries, Glen Garioch has changed hands multiple times over the years and has endured periods of mothballing, shifts in style, and numerous renovations. Today, this Highland gem—nestled in the heart of Oldmeldrum village in Aberdeenshire—is known for producing fruity whiskies with a distinctive touch of spice.
