Ardnahoe is the newest distillery on Islay, opened in 2019 on the island’s northeast coast. It was founded by Hunter Laing and built with a focus on traditional methods, including worm-tub condensers that give the spirit extra weight and depth. The style leans toward classic Islay character — smoky, briny, and robust — but with a cleaner, fruitier edge thanks to slow distillation and tall stills. Its location offers dramatic views over the Sound of Islay, and although the whisky is still young, Ardnahoe has already earned attention for its commitment to craftsmanship and its promising, peat-forward spirit.
