This limited release from Mackmyra Distillery was inspired by the old tradition of seasoning and preserving food by infusing it with juniper smoke. This whisky was aged exclusively in new American oak casks.
Smoke, spiciness, oak, fruits and herbs. Peat, juniper, toasted oak and vanilla notes are followed by a smoky and spicy aroma with saltiness, minerals, tobacco leaves, and slight tartness. Arrak treats pear fudge, ginger and vanilla.
Peat, juniper, and salt are definitively smoky than what the nose implies. Instead, there was a pleasant oaky spiciness with vanilla, toasted oak, pickled figs, and pear fudge. The texture is medium-thick with oaky chewy notes.
