‘Mr George’, as he was fondly known by those who knew him best, was Mr George Urquhart, the second generation of the family to own Gordon & MacPhail.

His dedication to creating the single malt category and his determination to ensure others could savour them across the world has seen him be termed ‘the father of single malt’ by renowned whisky writer Charles MacLean MBE.

Filled in 1957, this spirit from Glen Grant Distillery has been matured by Gordon & MacPhail in a first-fill Sherry butt explicitly made to complement the spirit.

A personal favourite of Mr George, Glen Grant was built in 1840 and is famed for its smooth elegance, produced by the site’s unique stills that have an almost square section between the pot and neck, with purifiers on the lyne arms.

TASTING NOTES:

NOSE Rich fruitcake aromas intertwine with festive spices; cinnamon and ginger. Notes of orange marmalade are accompanied by dark treacle and a hint of beeswax polish.
PALATE Morello cherries are followed by a subtle dried tobacco and garden mint. Ripe red apple undertones combine with citrus peel and soft aniseed.
FINISH  A spicy full-bodied finish with lasting flavours of forest fruits and charred oak.

Only 198 bottles were produced.
