It was made entirely from unpeated spirit, which was first matured in ex-bourbon barrels and then finished in White Port barriques.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhite Port is made from white grapes in Portugal's Douro Valley and fortified with grape spirit, like its better-known ruby and tawny cousins. Its styles run from crisp and dry to rich and sweet, and it tends to be lighter and fresher than red Port. Barriques are smaller casks, so the whisky has more contact with the wood, and the finish makes its mark more quickly.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eUsing unpeated spirit lets the bright, fruity influence of the White Port casks come through clearly.
